Why do we love skiing?
Did you know that this type of exercise can provide amazing health benefits: The endorphins and adrenaline that are released into the bloodstream, elevating your mood and adding an overall sense of well-being? The Vitamin D intake on a sunny day that helps ward off cancer balances hormones and decreases inflammation.
Yadda, Yadda, Yadda…… We love skiing because it’s FUN!!!
After a good cup of coffee first thing in the morning, I’m ready to hit the hill. The excitement noted in all the skiers heading to the lifts, maybe it’s their first time on the slopes; maybe it’s their 15th season. You don’t verbally hear the anticipation but the energy is there. Everyone is thrilled to be there, from a vacation-of-a-lifetime skier to mountain town locals getting a few turns in before work.
Whether it’s a snowy day or full of sunshine, the mountain air refreshes your soul. Did you know that “Exercise is the single best thing you can do for your brain in terms of mood, memory, and learning,” according to Harvard Medical School psychiatrist John Ratey. It will also increase your quality of sleep, even if you get the same amount of sleep as usual.
Blah, Blah, Blah….We love skiing because it’s FUN!!!
The ice cold beer at Après Ski is like a gold medal around your neck for the burning muscles in your legs as you peel open your ski boots. You must be hungry too; because you burned close to 300 calories an hour on the slopes not to mention all the exertion of walking to the slopes and carrying your gear around. Researcher say high-intensity exercise can burn calories for hours after you are finished.
Enough about all that ……we love skiing because it’s FUN!!!
The sense of accomplishment knowing you got a great work out and didn’t even notice because you were having too much fun. The social aspect that ski towns provide creates entertaining social interaction, stimulating your mind, helping you to connect with those around you. As well as the quality time spent with friends and family. Just as exercise enhances the body, socializing combined with exercise can lead to better mental health, warding off diseases.
La….La…. La….. We love skiing because it’s FUN!!!
There is something invigorating about being out in the mountains; maybe it’s the off-chance of seeing wildlife. Nothing is more humbling than standing on top of a mountain surveying what seems like hundreds of miles of rolling mountains. The sight of fresh fallen snow on evergreen trees lining the chairlift is a scene unlike any other. “I believe that there is a subtle magnetism in Nature, which, if we unconsciously yield to it, will direct us aright.” Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)
There are numerous benefits to skiing but the one we like the most is ….. Because it’s FUN!!!
